Fanshawe College is a large college in London, Ontario, Canada. It also has campuses in Simcoe, St. Thomas, Woodstock, Tillsonburg, and Strathroy. There are about 15 000 full-time students and 40 000 part-time students. Fanshawe College has over 100,000 alumni. The university press, The Interrobang, is a member of CUP.

History

The London campus was founded in 1962 as the Ontario Vocational Centre (OVC). In 1967 it became Fanshawe College, one of a province-wide system of colleges of applied arts and technology, also referred to as community colleges. Area campuses were subsequently established in Woodstock, St. Thomas, and Simcoe.

Admission Requirement

• Diploma Programs: The minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 550 for the paper-based test (PBT), 213 for the computer-based test (CBT), and 79-80 for the Internet-based test (iBT) with test results within the past 24 months, IELTS score of 6.0 with no band lower than 5.5, with test results within the last two years.
• Graduate or Degree Programs: the minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 570 for the paper-based test (PBT), 230 for the computer-based test (CBT) and 88-89 for the Internet-based Test (iBT); or IELTS score of 6.5 with no band lower than 6.0.
• Nursing Degree Program and an applied degree program a score of 7.0 overall with at least a score of 6.5 in reading and listening and a score of 7.0 in writing and speaking.

Note: TOEFL or IELTS Test Score must have been taken within the previous two years.

• If you do not have a minimum TOEFL Score or IELTS score, you will be required to write the Fanshawe English Language Evaluation (ELE) after you arrive at the College. If you are not successful passing the ELE test you will be required to register in the Fanshawe College English as a Second Language Program prior to entering your post-secondary program.

Application Dates for the 2010-11 Cycle :

Applications will start being processed by ontariocolleges.ca and sent electronically to the Colleges.

All applications RECEIVED ON OR BEFORE FEBRUARY 1, will be given equal consideration in the application process. Applications received AFTER FEBRUARY 1, will be considered on a first come, first served basis.

Commencing the week of February 22, 2010, the College will start making admission decisions known. After this date, applicants can review their WebAdvisor account to discover the status of their application. Admission decisions will continue to be made following this date, throughout the balance of the cycle which runs into 2011.

May 3, 2010:

Deadline for applicants to confirm online their acceptance of an offer of admission.

Security :

Security services run virtually 24/7, patrolling campus both on foot and with security vehicles. We also offer a Campus Safe Walk program with phones located around the campus connecting directly to our control centre for assistance.
