The college has its roots in the Western Ontario Institute of Technology, founded in 1958 to supplement the then-Ryerson Institute in Toronto, now Ryerson University. With the advent of the Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology, St. Clair was founded in 1966; the two institutions were merged a year later. Growth of the college has generally paralleled that of Windsor, especially in relation to the automotive industry. Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology were established on May 21, 1965. It is on a Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology. The school was founded in 1966 as part of a provincial initiative to create many such institutions to provide career-oriented diploma and certificate courses, as well as continuing education programs to Ontario communities
Campus
Its main administration and largest campus sites are in Windsor, Canada. In addition, other campuses are located in Chatham and Wallaceburg. In 2007, St. Clair College expanded to downtown Windsor by purchasing the former City of Windsor owned Cleary International Centre.

St. Clair College offers more than 85 degree, diploma, and certificate and post graduate certificate programs. The College also offers Apprentice programs, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Post Secondary career programs.

Admission requirements
Applicants should have completed studies in a recognized institution of higher learning (i.e. studies beyond the Intermediate Examination level with high standing), preferably in the first division. Applicants holding a record of secondary division standings may be considered if the academic standing is above 85%. Applicants who hold a third division standing will not be considered.
ENGLISH REQUIREMENT
- Ontario Grade 12 English or equivalent with 60% or better
- TOEFL 500 paper based or 173 computer based
- IELTS 5.5
- Completion of advanced(C)ESL - St. Clair College
Intakes: Fall and winter
Tuition Fees (Approximately): $11,300 CAD
LIVING COSTS
Accommodation:
. On-campus residence: $500 per month including cable TV and high speed Internet access (meals are not included)
. Homestay: $600-$650 per month including accommodation and meals
. Off campus housing: $400-$1000 per month
1. Universal Entrance Scholarship - $1,000.00
Beginning in 2008/09, St. Clair College is proud to introduce new scholarships for international students. The Universal Entrance Scholarship will be awarded to newly enrolled International students in post secondary programs. A $500.00 tuition reimbursement payment will be made at the end of the student's first and third semester. Students must maintain full-time academic status and a minimum GPA of 2.5.
2. Campus Care Scholarships - $3,000.00
St. Clair College, in cooperation with CanAm Insurance, will award Campus Care Scholarships for a total value of $3,000. Individual scholarships of $500.00 will be awarded to top academic students from Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, USA, Africa, and the Middle East.
3. Student Representative Council - International Student Scholarship - $1,000.00
The St. Clair College Student Representative Council (SRC) annually awards a $1,000.00 scholarship to one outstanding international student based on financial need, academic standing, and demonstrated extracurricular activities.
