Founded in 1964 by Dr. Walter Leibrecht, Schiller International University was created as a private American University dedicated to the active development and encouragement of international understanding. As a philosophy professor in the United States, Dr. Leibrecht was so impressed with the personalized instruction in the American college system that he sought to create something similar back in Europe. The realization of this concept was Schiller International University, named after German writer and human rights advocate Friedrich Schiller and established in a 16th century castle in Ingersheim, Germany with 35 students enrolled.
This exciting global growth trend has continued, and to date, Schiller International University has educated more than 20,000 students from more than 100 countries across its campuses in the United States, France, Germany, Spain and the UK.
Accreditation: - Schiller International University is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools to award Associate, Bachelor, and Master degrees. ACICS is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Its accreditation of degree-granting institutions is also recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Schiller International University campus in London is accredited by the British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education (BAC).
Associate Degree Programs: - International Business , General Studies, International Hospitality and Tourism .
Bachelor Degree Programs:- International Business (BS), International Economics (BA), International Hospitality and Tourism Management (BS), International Relations and Diplomacy (BA), Interdisciplinary Studies (BA).
Master's Programs:- MBA Preparatory Programs, Business Administration(MBA), International Business(MBA), International Hospitality and Tourism Management(MBA), Management of Information Technology(MBA), Financial Planning(MBA), International Management(MIM), International Relations and Diplomacy(MA), Management of Information Technology (MBA).
Test Information: - Undergraduate students who have a TOEFL score received during the last two years, of at least 500 (or 173 for the computerized TOEFL test) can be accepted into university studies without further EFL requirements. However, to receive EFL credits, these students must take the SIU English Placement Exam prior to their first registration at SIU as described above. Please also note that students must have had their official TOEFL scores sent directly to Schiller International University's U.S. Admissions Office from the Educational Testing Service prior to registration.
Graduation and Undergraduation Requirement
An official TOEFL score less than three years old, of 550 (213 computer-based/79 Internet-based), directly from the Educational Testing Services; an IELTS score, directly from IELTS, less than three years old, of 6 bands or better; an APIEL score less than three years old, score of 3 or better, directly from APIEL; or TOEIC score less than three years old, score of 775 or better, directly from TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication).
