Contra Costa College is a two-year, urban community college supported by the taxpayers of California and many generous donors. We offer Associate degrees and certificates that lead to baccalaureate degrees from four-year institutions and to careers in today's hottest job markets. Many of our programs are unique and exemplary. Contra Costa Junior College District was established in a special election on December 14, 1948. State Assemblyman George Miller, Jr. was instrumental in obtaining the use of Kaiser Shipyard No. 3 and surrounding buildings from the U.S. Maritime Commission. Classes began at Contra Costa Junior College, West Campus on February 14, 1950. Beginning enrollment was 500 students.

Test Information:-

TOEFL scores under 500 on the paper-based test (173 on the computerized TOEFL, 61 on the Internet-based TOFEL), without TOEFL or IELTS scores under 5.0 must take the English as a Second

Language (ESL) assessment test and be advised.

1. These students will study in the credit ESL program until they finish Level Four.
2. Students placed in higher levels of the ESL program may take academic transfer classes with advisor Approval.
