More than 20,100 students from India have gone to the shores of England to study further at different levels, for Sept. 2007 intake. Among them, one third (34%), or approximately 6,840 students are from South India alone. Kudos for the brains and the zeal of the Indians!
Interestingly, 40% of the students from South India are from Andhra Pradesh, followed by 26% from Tamilnadu and 14% each from Karnataka and Kerala!
With more than 14% increase (from the previous year) in the number of students to England, the present strength of Indian student community stands at 27000+ students.
Not surprisingly, the broad field of Engineering is most attractive one. IT and Biotechnology are also attracting students from India, in large number, according to an official of Education UK, of the British Council.
USA, beware! Stiff competition from UK to grab away Indian students to their shores is not far away!!
